What does proof condition mean in relation to gold coins?

M M asked:

I see a gold coin on Ebay for twice what mine sold for
It was graded as proof .69 and sealed by the grading

For condition or grade sound like but specially made coin distinguished by sharpness of detail and usually with brilliant mirrorlike finish that are not condition or grade below mint state mishandled proofs in numismatics there is tern used for grade but specially made coin distinguished by sharpness of manufacture the gold coins it sounds like the gold coins are proof coins.
